Korea expanded eligibility for the Overseas Korean F-4 visa regardless of an applicant's country of origin, reducing the different treatment previously applied to ethnic Koreans from China and Central Asia. The change also marks the practical integration of the H-2 visit-and-work track into F-4.

Current H-2 holders may apply to change to F-4 before their permitted stay expires. Employment limits for F-4 holders are also being relaxed in selected occupations, while periods of stay can vary according to factors such as Korean-language ability and completion of the Korea Immigration and Integration Program.

The reform does not mean every job is automatically allowed or every application will be approved. Applicants should check the occupation list, required proof of overseas-Korean status, and their local immigration office instructions through HiKorea or 1345.
