seeking friends - 26

Community

This is my second year in Korea and a lot of people I like have gone home, so I want to make a new friend, either Korean or foreign. Yes, I said "a" new friend. I would rather meet one really expressive, open-minded person that shares common interests with me, than a flock of convenient acquaintances.

I did my BA in English lit, focusing on the victorian era and on contemporary poetry. I'm currently applying to grad schools so I can start my MFA next year. It's a terrifying, overwhelming process, that causes me one needless heart attack after another. The experience provides a similar feeling to going in a haunted house and getting followed around stealthily by people clad in black costumes who jump out and pop balloons at you. There's no real danger, but your tiniest hairs are standing on end (and not just from the static electricity of the balloons).

My favorite writers are William Carlos Williams, Ernest Hemingway, Jean Shepherd, Bill Bryson, and Douglas Adams.

In norebang I usually sing Guns n Roses or something else from the 80's. I like listening to Roxy Music, Inxs, The Sisters of Mercy, the Cure, Duran Duran (who I saw live in Seoul this year), etc.

I don't care if you're a guy, a girl, or an intelligent but hermaphroditic life form from another planet, as long as you can make complex (or profoundly simple) and interesting conversation with me in english (unless you're Hongchul from Moohan Dojun- I know his english isn't great, but I want to meet him anyway).

If you've read this far then maybe you're genuinely interested in getting to know me. Go ahead and drop me an email with your life story, some interesting facts about butterflies, or a kickass soup receipie.

Incidentally, I hope you're conscientious enough to wince at my misspelling of recipe, but not pretentious enough to let that effect your overall feelings about me as a person.
