[POLL] The Price of English [lol=] + The Search For Under the Table Jobs in Korea

Community

If you were to offer private English lessons, what rate would you charge your disciples? (lol)

I would never support charging my friends for money, lol , but just curious as to what the general going rate is for being a good private English teacher.

Someone recommended I teach English in my spare time. But if someone wants to pay to kick it with me, is it OK to take their money and not give them homework? haha

Being a foreigner in Korea, its been hard to find a job other than teaching English. Sure I can get a shitty job on Yongsan base at the commissary or something, but why travel just to work a shitty job?

In America, its easy for a foreigner to find an under the table paying job. Most sushi restaurants in San Diego employ Korean and Japanese college students without proper work Visa's to wait on tables because it keeps costs down. And usually there is a ton of Mexicans washing dishes in the kitchen at most of those very same restaurants, and other people just on the street selling drugs or sex. Ive seen it a million times, and they never get caught.

But in Japan, and in Korea, its difficult to find such illegal work... lol I mean, do Koreans ever use drugs? Ive never seen any drugs in Korea, so I wonder. In Japan, I've met all kinds of people, seen all kinds of stuff haha, and Im from San Diego California where drugs are on the street all day everyday. Anything from weed to speed to crack to sMACK! Californian's are sure to have it all.

Truth is, I just want to keep traveling and taking in new cultures, so a work VISA seems to be a bit much for me.

I will be in Korea for a while though, so i'm gonna have to find a job.

(who needs anything permanent, right?).
